TREK IN AUGUST FOR MND VICTORIA
Australian Kokoda Tours is excited to have partnered with MND Victoria to raise funds and awareness for Victorians suffering from Motor Neuron Disease. The 27 August- 5 September trek is dedicated to those whose lives have been forever affected by MND.
10% of every MND trekker’s payment goes directly to MND Victoria, as well as any fundraising by each trekker. All the funds raised contribute to the care, support and equipment needed by those suffering from MND.
MND is the umbrella term for a group of diseases which impact on an individual’s nerve cells. These nerve cells (neurones) allow control over muscle movement, and MND attacks these neurones. This means that individuals living with MND gradually lose control over their muscles, and in many cases, their entire body.
MND is also commonly known as ALS, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. Today there are more than 400 Victorians living with MND.
There is currently no cure for MND, although research has shown that there are certain interventions that can assist MND affected individuals to live a better quality of life for longer. To donate and learn more about MND Victoria, see their website.
If you’ve always wanted to trek Kokoda, August is the time to do it. Tick Kokoda off your bucket list, have a once in a life time experience, and help raise funds and awareness for a great cause at the same time.
The total trip cost is $5,450 from Melbourne. Prices vary from other cities.
Most of the 2018 Australian Kokoda Tours treks are now sold out or close to capacity, however, this important trek needs more participants. To book your August 27 MND Charity Trek, head to our website, and select the MND trek. Contact us for more information.
