DAY 6: MENARI TO NAURO - WEDNESDAY 22 APRIL

Up early again and only a half day of trekking today however, it was still a tough one! The trekkers made their way out of Menari for 20 minutes before crossing a small bridge and another 30 mins hike to a rest break. Then it was their first accent of the day up-to the Menari lookout where they could see the village in the distance they camped at last night. Then they trekked down the ridge for 45 minutes and refilled their water before they crossed a very muddy swamp on the way to Brown River for a refreshing swim. Then they trekked a short 15 minutes to Amaduri village for morning tea and then back into the swamp for 45 minutes in the increasing humidity to the base of the false peaks. They enjoyed a rest at the base of the peaks before the seemingly never-ending slog up the Maguli Range to today’s camp at new Nauro Village. The weather was kind to the trekkers, although there was lots of mud, making their half day still just as tough as the rest. The trekkers arrived in camp early and are now enjoying an early end to the day, doing some washing and as always a few men having an afternoon nap.
