DAY 3 - ALOLA TO VASI CAMPSITE

Tuesday 22 April

The morning started with a short 15-minute trek out of camp to the village of village of Alola. They team stopped at Alola to visit the museum and then trekked through the village and down to the creek with some amazing views along the way. They crossed the creek before a short and steep up and then continued for an hour to a short break, before another 1 hour of trekking across to see a Japanese ammunition dump. Then it was another 30-minute trek to Eora Creek for morning tea. Luckily, they fuelled up here as then they had a steep climb for 45 minutes to visit an Australian ammunition dump, containing live Australian grenades and mortars. Then it was back onto the track and a long hike for 2.5 hours which was relatively flat to Templeton's Crossing for lunch by the creek.

After lunch it was another tough climb for 30 minutes and then a little easier trek for 30 minutes, before a short break at the top of the final climb for the day. Then they trekked a relatively easy down for 30 minutes into tonight's camping village over the top of a beautiful creek. They are now braving the chilly creek before enjoying some more popcorn.
