DAY 4 - VASI CAMPSITE TO KAGI VILLAGE
Thursday 24 July
Another early wake up as they trekked out of Vasi campsite, across the bridge and 20 minutes to the first climb of the day. It was another tough climb to the lookout and then another hour to the highest point of the track Mt Bellamy. They gathered here for a group photo and then they survived another hour through the moss forest for a break. They then trekked in the very hot weather although great dry track conditions for another hour to see the amazing views of Myola. They dropped their packs here and trekked out onto the crater to chat about the history of the events here. Then back to their backpacks and down for an hour to Bombers camp for lunch and to inspect a crashed American bomber. Then back onto the track for a long 2.5 hour trek flat, up, up, up, down and up into Kagi village at 3:30pm the halfway point of the track. Everyone is doing well!
MESSAGES: Hey honey, i’m still going but it’s bloody hard! I’m enjoying it though and grateful for my amazing porter David, for keeping me going. I love you, Paige.
