DAY 6 - MENARI TO NAURO (Copy)

Saturday 08 November

No war cry in the village this morning as the trekkers respected the Sabbath and although it was only half day of trekking today was still a tough one! The day started with the trekkers making their way out of Menari for 20 minutes before crossing a small bridge and another 30 mins hike to a rest break. After this they made their first accent of the day up to the Menari lookout where they could see the village in the distance they camped at last night. They then trekked down the ridge for 45 minutes and refilled their water before they crossed the swampy flatlands on the way to Brown River for a refreshing swim. Then they trekked a short 15 minutes to Amaduri village for morning tea and then back into the swamp for 45 minutes in the increasing humidity to the base of the false peaks. They rested here before continuing up the seemingly never-ending slopes of the Maguli Range to today’s camp at new Nauro Village. They are now enjoying an early finish to the day, doing some washing and as always, a few having an afternoon nap.
