DAY 7 - MENARI TO NAURO
Thursday 02 July
The trekkers left Menari with a 20‑minute walk, crossed a small bridge, then continued for another 30 minutes to a short rest. Their first ascent of the day brought them to the Menari lookout, offering clear views back to the village where they camped last night. After a 45‑minute descent to refill water, they crossed into the swampy flatlands en route to the Brown River for a refreshing swim as conditions are hot and dry— a welcome break for the group.
Refreshed, they walked 15 minutes to Amaduri village for morning tea, then returned to the swamp for a 45‑minute stretch toward the base of the false peaks. The party then began the long climb up the undulating slopes of the Maguli Range to today’s camp at New Nauro Village. They arrived early at 12:30 pm into camp, enjoying an early finish to the day, completed some washing, and — as always — a few settled in for an afternoon nap.
