Australian Kokoda Tours Director Mick O'Malley stands up for workplace safety

Our Australian Kokoda Tours Director Mick O’Malley is one of 12 Geelong ambassadors speaking up for workplace health and safety. Mick has taken part by reflecting on the role safety plays in running Australian Kokoda Tours and his gym, O’Malley Fitness, in partnership with WorkSafe.

Mick says, “safety is a huge one for us, both in the O’Malley Fitness Gym and taking trekkers to Papua New Guinea with Australian Kokoda Tours.

“Trekking the Kokoda Trail requires trekkers’ physical safety to be our top priority. We take every precaution because we’re in the jungle for 140 kilometres and the only way out is by helicopter.

“Before we even get there, we’ve ensured that all of our trekkers are fit enough to be able to complete the challenge safely and successfully.”

Checkout WorkSafe’s mirror installation at Westfield Geelong from now until Sunday to hear stories of Victorians who have been impacted by workplace mental and physical injury, and take the time to reflect on the role safety plays within your workplace. Sign the pledge at the installation to commit to speaking up for safety at your work.
